Internazionale aim to take their stunning Serie A form into the UEFA Champions League against Valencia.
The current Italian champions have won 16 games in a row in the league, but stumbled into the last 16 in Europe by finishing runners-up to Bayern Munich in the group phase.
Roberto Mancini is aware of his side's blistering domestic form, but will take progress to the Champions League quarter-finals by any means available.
"We might win Serie A with weeks to spare, but that doesn't matter," said Mancini. "What matters is winning it.
"The same applies to the Champions League. It's probably the most alluring and exciting tournament there is, but even if you're the best team, you can get knocked out in an instant.
"Serie A is going well, but the Champions League is another matter entirely. The key is to qualify for the next round and there are lots of ways that can be achieved.
"Our philosophy is to do whatever it takes to qualify."
Inter will be without Patrick Vieira through injury, so his fellow Frenchman, Olivier Dacourt, will continue in midfield.
Mancini is musing over who should partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack, with Hernan Crespo, Adriano and Julio Cruz his options.
Marco Materazzi and Maicon, left on the bench for the weekend win over Cagliari, could be brought back into the defence.
Valencia head to Giuseppe Meazza without several key players due to injury, although they will be in good spirits after Sunday's 2-1 home win over Barcelona.
Asier Del Horno remains sidelined, while Ruben Baraja and Vicente will also miss the first leg tie.
But the Che could have Santiago Canizares back in goal after a virus and he would replace Ludovic Butelle between the sticks.
